This meeting brought together representatives of the Government, governance bodies, national, international, and regional institutions and organizations – notably from Africa and the Middle East – as well as socio-economic actors concerned with the issues raised by the rise of digital platforms, as well as experts and specialists in related matters.

The choice of this theme comes in a context where digital platforms are redefining modes of production, distribution, intermediation, and consumption, while raising new challenges in terms of competitive regulation, transformation of professions, and social impacts.

Through this conference, the Competition Council has initiated a structured and multidisciplinary debate on the economic, social, and competitive effects of these changes. The exchanges have made it possible to review the reform projects underway in this framework, to cross institutional, economic and technological perspectives, and to identify areas for reflection on the balances to be established in an increasingly digitalized economy. The work focused on three main axes:

1. Sales platforms: new competitors or essential intermediaries – redefinition of distribution channels and the issue of competitive loyalty;
2. Platforms and their social impacts – economic inclusion, work precariousness and digital inequalities;
3. E-commerce, payment methods and cybersecurity – technological innovations, digital sovereignty and personal data protection.

This event was a key moment of exchange and sharing of best practices, contributing to the design of a modern and inclusive economic governance, serving citizens, businesses and States.By placing this initiative in a dynamic of openness and international cooperation, the Competition Council reaffirms its commitment to promote a fair, competitive, and digitally responsive economy.
