Press release from the Competition Council regarding the economic concentration project related to the merger between the company “Akzo Nobel N.V.” and the company “Axalta Coating Systems Ltd.”

In accordance with the provisions of Article 14 of Law 20-13 on the Competition Council, the Permanent Commission of the council held a meeting on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m., under the chairmanship of Mr. Ahmed Rahhou, President of the Competition Council, to examine the files submitted to it by the Council’s investigating services. At the beginning of its work, the Permanent Commission approved the minutes of its meeting held on April 19, 2021.

Furthermore, the Permanent Commission, noting the absence of an impact on competition in the relevant national markets, made decisions to authorize the following four economic concentration operations:

        • The direct exclusive control by the State of Portugal through the acquisition of 22.5% of the share capital and voting rights of the company “Transport Aéreos Portugueses, sgps, sa”;
        • The joint control of the company “LG Magna e-Pouwertrain Co” by the company “Magna International Inc” and the company “LG Electronics INC”;
        • The direct exclusive control by the company “Oncologie et Diagnostic du Maroc” through the acquisition of 80% of the share capital and voting rights of the company “Polyclinique Atlas Anfa sarlau”;
        • And the indirect exclusive control by the company “AstraZenica plc” of 100% of the share capital and voting rights of the company “Alexion Pharmaceuticals”.
