Press Release from the Competition Council regarding the economic concentration project concerning the exclusive takeover of the sawmill activity of the company ‘Korkeakoski’ by the company ‘Versowood Oy’

In accordance with Article 13 of Law No. 104-12 on freedom of prices and competition and Article 10 of Decree No. 2-14-652 adopted for its implementation, as amended and supplemented, the Competition Council makes available to the public the ‘summary of the operation’ below, containing the information provided by the parties.

NON-CONFIDENTIAL SUMMARY OF THE OPERATION PROVIDED BY THE PARTIES

The Competition Council has received notification of an economic concentration project concerning the acquisition by the company ‘Versowood Oy’ of the exclusive control of the sawmill activity of the company ‘Korkeakoski’, currently operated by the company ‘UPM-Kymmene Oyj’.

‘Versowood Oy’ is a Finnish private law company active in the forestry industry and is part of the ‘Versowood’ group, whose parent company is ‘Versowood Group Oy’.

The ‘Korkeakoski’ sawmill is part of the sawn timber activity of ‘UPM-Kymmene Oyj’, a publicly traded company in Finland, active in the forestry industry and the parent company of the UPM group.

‘Versowood Oy’ exports sawn timber to Morocco, while the company ‘UPM-Kymmene Oyj’ markets sawn timber produced by the company ‘Korkeakoski’ in the Moroccan market.
