Press release regarding the meeting of the Permanent Commission of the Competition Council

In accordance with the provisions of Article 14 of Law 20-13 on the Competition Council, as amended and supplemented, the Permanent Commission of the Council held a meeting on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 09:30, under the chairmanship of Mr. Ahmed Rahhou, President of the Competition Council, to examine the files submitted to it by the Council’s investigation services.

At the beginning of its work, the Permanent Commission approved the minutes of its meeting held on June 2, 2023.
The Permanent Commission then decided to authorize the following economic concentration operations:

• • Joint control acquisition of the company « MAIN STREET 1889 PROPRIETARY LIMITED » by the companies « Sanlam Limited » and « Allianz SE ». This authorization was granted subject to the effective implementation of the behavioral and structural commitments proposed by the parties and made mandatory by the Competition Council.
  • Acquisition by « Barceló Hotels Mediterráneo, S.L. » of the real estate assets of the hotels « Farah Casablanca » and « Farah Rabat ».
  • Establishment of the joint venture « Alpla Morocco SAS » by the company « Atlantic Packaging SA » and the company « Alpla Holding GmbH ».
