The Competition Council and the National Agency for Strategic Management of State Equity Participations and Monitoring of the Performance of Public Institutions and Enterprises (ANGSPE) have signed a partnership agreement, as part of efforts to promote a competitive, fair economy based on the principles of good governance and respect for the rules of free and fair competition.
Through this partnership, the two institutions intend to combine their efforts to promote compliance with competition rules within entities under the scope of ANGSPE, prevent anticompetitive practices such as anticompetitive agreements or abuse of dominant position, and encourage the establishment of more transparent and responsible governance practices. This collaboration also aims to ensure fair competition, strengthen market integrity, and ensure compliance of capital and portfolio operations with current competition regulations.
Cooperation between the Competition Council and ANGSPE will focus on several areas, including the exchange of information and data related to market practices of public entities, prior consultation on capital and portfolio operation projects, as well as monitoring anticompetitive practices. The two institutions also commit to developing training programs and expertise exchange, and jointly organizing awareness actions, conferences, and seminars to promote a culture of competition and support the implementation of public sector reform.
A monitoring committee will ensure the effective implementation of the agreement, coordinate between the two parties, and evaluate the results of the actions taken.
Through this agreement, the Competition Council and ANGSPE reaffirm their joint commitment to continue working towards enhancing competitiveness, transparency, and good economic governance in the service of the Kingdom’s development.
