In accordance with the provisions of Article 10 of Law No. 20.13 on the Competition Council, as amended and supplemented, which provides for the appointment of Council members for a term of five (5) years renewable only once, the first term of the Competition Council members expired on December 11, 2023, following their initial appointment on December 12, 2018, under Decree No. 1.18.963 published on the same date (Arabic version of Official Bulletin No. 6734).

Upon the expiration of this term and in accordance with the provisions of Articles 9 and 10 of Law No. 20.13 on the Competition Council, as amended and supplemented, and Article 1 of Decree No. 2.15.109 for the implementation of Law No. 20.13, as amended and supplemented, and upon the proposal of the High Council of the Judiciary and the relevant government authorities, the appointment of six (6) members was renewed for a second term, and six (6) new members were appointed, under Decree No. 2.23.1110 of December 11, 2023 (Arabic version of Official Bulletin No. 7255). These include two (2) magistrate members, as vice-presidents, two (2) others selected for their expertise in economic or competition matters, one selected for legal expertise, and one exercising or having exercised their activity in the production, distribution, or services sectors.

The newly appointed members are:

• The two (2) magistrate members, vice-presidents:
  • Madam Chaimae Abbou;
  • Mr. Adil Boukbir.
• Two (2) members selected for their expertise in economic or competition matters:
  • Mr. Adil Hidane;
  • Mr. Abdessalam Benabbou.
• One member selected for legal expertise:
  • Mr. Mounir Mehdi.
• One member exercising or having exercised their activity in the production, distribution, or services sectors:
  • Mr. Othman El Ferdaous.

The members whose term was renewed for a second time are:

• Two (2) members selected for their expertise in economic or competition matters:
  • Mr. Abdelaziz Talbi, vice-president;
  • Mr. Abdelkhalek Touhami.
• One member selected for legal expertise:
  • Mr. Hassan Abouabdelmajid, vice-president.
• Two (2) members exercising or having exercised their activities in the production, distribution, or services sectors:
  • Mr. Rachid Benali;
  • Mr. El Aid Mahsoussi.
• One member selected for expertise in consumer protection matters:
  • Mr. Bouazza El Kherrati.

Therefore, the composition of the Competition Council is as follows:

• The two (2) vice-president members:
  • Madam Chaimae Abbou;
  • Mr. Adil Boukbir.
• The four (4) members selected for their expertise in economic or competition matters:
  • Mr. Abdelaziz Talbi, vice-president;
  • Mr. Abdelkhalek Touhami;
  • Mr. Adil Hidane;

• The two (2) members selected for legal expertise:
